This page covers what is particular about marketing a business in Epsom and Ewell, the local organisations and events worth knowing, and a checklist for getting found by people nearby. Every local detail on it was checked against the organisation's own website or the council's on the date shown above; if something has changed, please tell us.

The places people search for

Epsom and Ewell is a borough of several distinct centres, and people search by the name of the place they have in mind. Epsom & Ewell Borough Council's own guide to its town centres describes:

  • Epsom town centre, where the Market Place hosts the regular Thursday and Saturday markets and a farmers' market on the first Sunday of each month.
  • Ewell Village, beside Bourne Hall with its park, library and museum, with cafés and restaurants.
  • Stoneleigh Broadway, a parade of independent shops and everyday stores.
  • The Kingston Road parades along the A240.

For a business, that matters in two ways. First, your website and listings should name the specific places you serve, in plain words, rather than just "Surrey". Second, a business that serves customers in several of these places, or in neighbouring towns such as Ashtead, Leatherhead or Banstead, should say so clearly, and set up its Google Business Profile as a service-area business if customers do not come to its premises. Our local SEO checklist covers how.

Local organisations worth knowing

These are the organisations a business in the borough is most likely to come across. Each detail below is from the organisation's own site.

  • Go Epsom, Epsom's Business Improvement District, runs a business directory and a What's On calendar for the town. If your business is in the BID area, check your directory listing is complete and matches your Google Business Profile exactly. We wrote about how Epsom's businesses came together to fund their own high street.
  • Epsom Business Club runs networking for business owners and managers in the Epsom & Ewell area and neighbouring districts. Its site says there are no membership fees, and that it meets in person on the first Wednesday of every other month, with a featured speaker from among its members.
  • The Epsom & Ewell Business Awards, first established in 2011, are now open only to businesses based within the borough. Check its site for the current cycle's dates and categories.
  • Surrey Chambers of Commerce is the county-wide chamber, with networking, training and a monthly magazine for members.
  • Business Surrey lists business funding and support in the county. Its Surrey Economic Growth Fund, overseen by Surrey County Council, says it is not currently open for applications, so check the page for what is live before planning around a grant.

Your council is changing

Local government in Surrey is being reorganised. According to Surrey-i, Surrey County Council's data site, Epsom & Ewell will become part of a new East Surrey unitary council, together with Elmbridge, Mole Valley, Reigate & Banstead and Tandridge, and the two new councils will deliver all the services currently provided by Surrey's existing twelve councils from 1 April 2027. Surrey County Council said in September 2026 that the programme remains on track.

For marketing, the practical point is small but worth noting: anything on your website or listings that points to council pages, such as licences, markets or local services, may need updating as the new council's websites replace the old ones.

The calendar that shapes demand

Some of Epsom's busiest days are known well ahead. The Derby has been run at Epsom Downs since 1780, and the racecourse lists the 2027 Derby Festival for Friday 4 and Saturday 5 June. On race days the town's usual rhythm changes. For businesses that serve racegoers, that is a predictable opportunity to plan stock, staff, opening hours and advertising around; for others, it is a day to plan deliveries and appointments around. We wrote about what Derby Day is worth to the rest of Epsom's businesses. Check the racecourse's own fixture list for dates rather than relying on memory, as fixtures can change.

The markets are the other regular rhythm, and we looked at who Epsom's markets are really for.
